Serving Suggestions
For a simple camping breakfast, top your hash brown patty with avocado or a fried egg. For something heartier, add a homemade sausage patty and egg to the top of your patty.
Tips and Troubleshooting
- Spray the inside of the pie iron really well with cooking spray to avoid any sticking.
- Tuck any stray potato bits into the pie iron before closing. Any pieces of potato that are sticking out will burn. If you end up with burned bits, just cut them away after removing the patty from the pie iron.
- Cook your hash brown patties over a hot fire with medium flames. Low flame or hot embers will require a longer cooking time.
- These do take some time to cook. If you have access to a double pie iron, use that in order to cook more at the same time.
